ABOUT

Monika Chauhan is a post-doctoral researcher working with Dr. Christina Pacak. She is intrigued by deciphering the causes of neurological manifestations and is actively engaged in optimizing the treatments for genetic disorders through the application of viral vector-delivered gene therapy. During her doctoral studies at the National Institute of Immunology (India), she delved into the mechanisms underlying how E3 ubiquitin ligase, Itch, regulates the cell cycle and apoptosis in the context of neurodegeneration observed in Alzheimer's disease.

RESEARCH

I am working to optimize various Adeno-Associated Virus (AAV)-mediated gene therapy components to develop treatments for DNA repair disorders that cause accelerated aging. My work involves a meticulous examination and enhancement of the various elements crucial for the success of gene therapy, such as the capsid, promoter, delivery systems, and therapeutic dosages. By focusing on the intricacies of AAV-mediated gene therapy, I aim to contribute to the advancement of treatments for individuals affected by DNA repair disorders.
