ABOUT

Ellie Khadir is a post-doc associate working with Dr. Pacak. She is a veterinarian scientist working on gene therapy in rare diseases. She received her veterinary degree at Urmia University in Urmia, Iran. She received her PhD of pathology in the Department of Pathobiology, at Shiraz University, Iran and in the Department of Immunotherapy on leishmania vaccine research at the Pasteur Institute of Iran. She also completed a research fellowship in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at Western University, Canada, her field of science includes defining, characterizing, and studying the physiological and molecular mechanisms involved in particular diseases in order to design and perform experiments that could possibly develop new therapeutic approaches. Her aim is to facilitate the refinement and implementation of therapies to optimize treatment strategies for a broad range of diseases.

RESEARCH

One project is focused on improving the efficacy of systemic AAV-mediated gene delivery strategies using low-intensity exercise and other interventions. My other main project is the generation and characterization of a large animal (swine) model of Cockayne Syndrome type B (CSB) to enable clinically relevant testing of our CSB gene therapy.
